Central Coast Olive Growers Have Strong Showing at the 2009 Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition
Results of the olive oil competition were just announced and Central Coast Olive Growers were well represented in the winners list of the 2009 Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition.
Results of the olive oil competition were just announced and Central Coast Olive Growers were well represented in the winners list of the 2009 Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition. Top Gold Medal winners include; Homestead Olive Ranch Domestic / Mission Late Harvest Central Coast; Pasolivo Olive Oil Domestic / Central Coast Blends Segreto, Tuscan Varietal Paso Robles; and Tiber Canyon Ranch Other Citrus Yuzu/Tuscan Varietal San Luis Obispo County. In addition to the Gold, members were awarded fourteen Silver Medals and seven Bronze Medals.
Started in 2000 as an adjunct to the world renowned Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition, this year The Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition received 477 entries from 318 domestic and International extra virgin olive oil producers. 8A complete list of winners is available online at the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition website: www.laoliveoilcomp.com/wine2009/EVOOComp/oliveoilwinners2009.htm
The California Central Coast is already internationally recognized as a premiere wine growing region. Where climate and terrain favors wine growing, olives excel. The Central Coast Olive growers are mostly small family own and operated businesses. The strong showing by the growers in a competition of world class domestic and international olive oil producers is indicative of both the quality of the olive oil produced on the Central Coast, as well as the dedication and passion of the members of the association.
The Central Coast Olive Growers Association - is a voluntary group of members comprised of growers, producers and community members interested in the promotion of olives and olive oil produced in the central coast area of California, from Santa Cruz in the North to Santa Barbara in the South. The mission of the Central Coast Olive Growers Association to provide educational support and act as a resource point for olive growers, olive oil producers, the community and general public.
